Pulau Sembilan or nine islands is a
bunch cluster of islands that can be productive for lure casting, especially
light to medium tackle. Common target species here consist of the giant
trevally, queenfish, hard-tail scad, and barracuda among others.
Located 12km southwest
of the town of Lumut, Perak, Pulau Sembilan (Nine Island) is one of the famous
Malaysia's GT jigging & casting destination. Pulau Sembilan also not far from Pangkor Island. It takes
about 20 minutes boat ride to get to Pulau from the mainland.
Around the island there are various
types of hard and soft corals, which provide protection to the smaller fish and
it's made a perfect spot for the predator to hunt. Popping, jigging & lure
casting are the main technique used by sport fishing angler in Nine Island.
Because of the less strong underwater current, light to medium jig range from
20grams to 80grams are required. There are so many variables to factor in for
this favorite pastime of ours that we call fishing. More so when it comes to
saltwater fishing. Chief among these factors is the tide.
